Synopsis

To Be Devised: A Celebration seeks to create a new and unique devised performance through creating a collaborative rehearsal environment for experimenting and generating the show. Director Sophe Friedman will use her extensive movement and devising background to lead a room where everyone is heard while playwright Darby Sherwood will translate the ensemble’s ideas and explorations into a 40-50 minute script. We’re interested in telling profound stories about women and nonbinary people in a way that also celebrates our existence and our experience. Because of the immensely collaborative and generative nature of this process, it’s essential that actors are able to be at all rehearsals to create.
