Creative, Administrative, and Artistic Opportunities
Fall 2025 Plays in Progress
We opened our submission portal for the Fall 2025 Plays in Progress script development workshops, seeking plays centering gender-marginalized characters “Of A Certain Age”. We initially set a deadline of July 13, but (whoops) July is slipping by. Submissions will remain open throughout the summer, and submissions will be reviewed as they come in. Don’t let us miss out on your play! Check out the details below. (We’re also recruiting directors - click here.)
Stage Management and Scenic Design Positions Are Open
Job postings are available for our next mainstage production directed by multi-hyphenate theatre maker and former Incubator/Mentor playwright Adrian Prendergast, produced at an undisclosed location in the CID next March. “I will miss you when you’re gone” is a comedy about sad things for four women and a roomba by Jessica Moss. More information about the play below.
New: TSGP Artists Council
The board and staff at TSGP spent the winter and spring months engaging in a strategic planning process facilitated by Roxy Hornbeck of INGwork. We are transitioning away from a single-founder leadership model and adopting a beehive system—a biomimicry approach that distributes decision-making among three key “cells,” each with unique roles. These cells will include our Board (responsible for leading on legal and financial matters) and our Staff (who will manage our resources). The third cell will be our brand new Artists Council, providing generative artistic advice and creation for programming and productions, and leading our sustainable artistic growth and staffing plans in support of a collaborative and collective artistic leadership model. Can you see yourself in this role? More Information Here.
Board of Directors
Never saw yourself as a board member? Under the heading of “you never know until you try”, we encourage you to consider joining our community to help us develop human-center policies and procedures and ensure we operate in ways that reflect our vision and values around intersectionality, racial justice, and equitable representation on and off the stage. Can you see yourself in this role? More Information Here.
We’re looking forward to welcoming you to our community!
Warmly,
Rebecca O’Neil, Artistic Director

Plays in Progress 2025…SPring Edition
Let’s talk about PIP!
22 actors, 5 tech/sm, 6 directors, 7 playwrights and hundreds of audience all came together, six times over, beginning in January, and culminating (so we thought…more on that soon) on June 20, just prior to the summer solstice! Just after the new government came into office, the series started off with a bang, and as questionable executive orders were signed, it felt better and better to gather every month, either in the audience or as part of a reading to be in community with each other, take in a new story and give feedback afterwards. We saw the same audience members, in many cases, return again and again to support these brand new, baby plays as they flapped their wings and began to fly off the page and onto the stage. A hearty thank you to all of you who came once, twice or MORE this spring, and of course, extra thanks to the actors, playwrights, directors and other creatives who made the readings possible. We hope to work with you again! Below are the plays - let’s give THEM a round of applause as we move forward, and hope they all find full, robust productions at a theatre near you!
A Scythe and A Sandglass the Skeleton Bore by Mariah Lee Squires and S.W. Jones, directed by Shana Bestock
(((god/hole))) by Nelle Tankus, directed by Zenaida Smith
Inside the Head of Mimp by Miriam BC Tobin, directed by Adrienne Mackey
In Between Places by Carolynne Wilcox, directed by Zanne Gerrard
The Request (or Prison Fan Fiction) by Brittney S. Harris, directed by Jordan-Michael Whidbey
Shape of by Zoe Barker-Aderem, directed by Buddy Todd
MORE PLAYS IN PROGRESS!!!
Because we had such a wonderful time building community and got such a great response from artists and audiences alike, (and also because we received a nice little grant from Lucky Seven), we’ve decided to extend into the fall! We’re soliciting more original works by women/non-binary/trans playwrights, this time with the idea to writing for people “of a certain age”. Readings will happen in September, early October, December 2025 and January 2026, with more opportunities to come later in 2026.
We’ve updated our submission deadlines: Submissions will be reviewed on a rolling basis starting July 13, 2025, and will remain open through the summer. Notifications will begin no earlier than August 4, 2025. Please send us your best, or forward to someone you know has written something innovating and interesting! We can’t wait to read your scripts.
(P.S. If you’re a director, there are opportunities waiting for you as well - click here.)
Scene and Heard - Save the Date!
You remember our Incubator-Mentor Cohort, right? Perhaps you went to one of the showings, perhaps you were even a member, mentor or instructor of one of the previous cohorts. Well, we’re restructuring a little. ere’s how:
Activities for the 2025-2026 Incubator/Mentor Programming at The Shattered Glass Project will start in September 2025 with our Monday night Scene and Heard programming, featuring gatherings and conversations to build your knowledge base and cultivate your career connections in the Seattle theatre community. Each evening will include networking activities, followed by conversations akin to the style of In the Actor’s Studio. We are building a speaker roster centered on bringing more experienced artists into dialogue with emerging artists. Topics will alternate between focusing on the work of the director, the work of the playwright, and the collaborative relationships between all the artists in the room.
If you are interested in participating in any capacity (listener? questioner? interviewer?) - let us know. Sign up for our mailing list for registration information; email Rebecca O’Neil at rebecca@shatteredglassproject.org if you are interested in a possible teaching artist role.
COME WORK WITH US:
Stage Manager and designers needed for our MainStage show, I will miss you when you’re gone, written by Jessica Moss and directed by Adrian Prendergast. It will run March 5-21, 2026 (performance venue TBA - we’ve been offered a slot but haven’t signed the contract yet.) Auditions will be announced in August. Production meetings begin in October 2025; rehearsals begin in late January 2026.
What’s the play about?
Celeste tries to contact her dead mother Theresa, but instead is haunted by Evelyn. Evelyn jumped off the top of her office building, run by Robin. Robin just wants to get these files in order, until the spirit of Theresa shows up. A “lonesome country song about grief and bureaucracy.” Designers needed for costumes, lighting, properties, scenic, and sound, plus stage management and run crew.
